Opis:
Purpose: Despite the scientific interest in Creating Shared Value concept there is still the continual lack of an appropriate scale measuring CSV. Our paper addresses the research gap by proposing the conceptualization of CSV dimensions and is an attempt for developing the measurement of CSV attributes based on insights from scholars and practitioners. Design/methodology/approach: The conducted survey presents the findings obtained from Delphi Study with nineteen researchers and practitioners with expertise of the fields of CSR, sustainability, marketing, strategic management, and ICT. The study was used to generate the proposed construct with dimensions of value creation and items describing each dimension. Findings: The paper provides the conceptualizing measurement construct of CSV with identification of four dimensions as social value creation (SVC), environmental value creation (EnVC), economic value creation (EVC) and innovation value creation (IVC) and sustain the notion that business organization is creating multiply values as a multi-purpose entity. Research limitations/implications: There is a need to develop the future study employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to develop the entire CSV scale for verification of the measurement tool. Practical implications: The paper includes the implications for managers and the managements of business organizations to assess the effects of their performances to create values for diverse groups of stakeholders. Social implications: The paper is presenting the challenges for the modern organizations by expanding spectrum of value creation within the company for mutual benefits among an enterprise, society, and environment. Originality/value: The paper is an attempt for CSV conceptualizing and the first stage to create and develop measuring scale of creating shared value.

The present paper discusses the issue of value capturing. The author’s objective was to identify factors determining the character of value capturing. In order to meet the objective, value capturing, along with several variations of the phenomenon, were identified. Next, an analysis of two companies, in light of value capturing and factors determining the character of the phenomenon was conducted. Results indicate that the character is determined by endogenous factors associated with the process of creating and transforming value by companies.Purpose – The aim of the paper is to identify factors determining the specific division of value created by companies. Methods – The study utilized a case study approach which compares a pair of companies. The study compared the attitude of other companies and their approach towards the above-mentioned pair, which may be justified by sensitivity of some areas of the issue. The selection of the case study approach results from an early stage of studies on value capturing. Results – Research results indicate that companies with limited capability for independent transformation of use value into exchange value, insufficient realization of some activities in value chain in relation to needs, and poor tangible and intangible assets, are prone to asymmetrical division of value.Limitations – In general, qualitative studies precede quantitative ones, and enable more general conclusions to be drawn. Therefore, further studies on a more sizeable sample are feasible in order to reach more applicable conclusions and for them to serve as a basis for actions to be undertaken by companies. Practical implications – Results of the study allow general guidelines for developing business models and determining direction of development for companies to be established.Novelty of the study – It seems that the present study is relatively novel due to a short period of interest in value capturing, and consequently, few publications discussing the issue available. Further studies associated with the present issue ought to examine pairs of cooperating entities which divide value asymmetrically. However, it requires methods of collecting sensitive data to be developed.

Therefore, in this article imitation is considered on par with innovation as an alternative strategic option for successful business performance. Dynamic development of the medical services sector in Central and Eastern Europe (CCE) creates demand for analysis and evaluation of medical organisations operating in this sector. This issue deserves attention both from the theoretical and practical point of view. The purpose of the article is to identify and describe forms of systemic products and network structures in healthcare networks in the context of value creation, and consequently to develop theoretical-descriptive models of value creation on the medical market. The research was conducted in 2014 by means of an exploratory, case research method. Semi-structured interviews in the form of a standard questionnaire with the manager of a professional services unit and the analysis of secondary data allowed for collection of the research data.

The condition for high growth and return is a possession by a company of sustainable competitive advantage. In times of “hypercompetition” and growing market uncertainty, the key to success is maintaining strategic flexibility. An option approach to strategy gives a clue about how firms can improve their strategic flexibility in order to effectively respond to volatile environment and gain sustainable competitive advantage. The main source of numerous strategic options for the company are its competences and underlying resources (mostly intangible). The current article focuses on the special aspects of venture capital’s value creation methods, summarizing the author’s researches in this field. This article puts special emphasis on the scrutiny of the Hungarian market as the value creation practices on the domestic market have not been revealed thoroughly in the literature yet. The article attempts to examine the performance of venture capital, especially the JEREMIE funds, according to the limited available secondary data of the companies involved, which helps to assess the role of the government in bridging the financial gap and solving the problems in the venture capital market in Hungary. In this field reliable statistical data is not available, but there is an ongoing primer research led by the author, producing new information soon. The article presents the special investment and value creating methods of venture capitalists. In the first part of the article the theoretical background is presented, and in the second part of the article the author’s research results are demonstrated following the same order.

Market introduction of technologically innovative products or services is based around a desire to create offerings with superior customer value. This perceived customer value creation process has to be divided into segments to provide a diagnostic tool which can usefully assist managers create new superior value technology based products or services by including customer participation in the development process. The use of such a tool, based on customer value and technical debt as parameters, will allow company decision makers to analyze and measure the nature of customer perceptions and the innovativeness of a proposed offering enabling them to define concrete marketing strategies as a result and minimizing the risk of market failure of an innovation based product. The importance of technical debt and customer value added as the parameters of technology innovation based strategies is discussed in this article.

Organizational learning and value creation in local governance : the mediating role of crowdsourcing

Purpose: Different studies have analyzed the relationship between organizational learning and value creation. However, the question of how crowdsourcing affects the relationships between organizational learning and value creation remains unexplored. This paper aims to explore the mediating role of crowdsourcing in the relationship between organizational learning and value creation in local governance. Design/methodology/approach: The hypotheses were tested based on data collected from 205 local governance units in Poland using crowdsourcing. Data collection was carried out by using a set of standardized questionnaires. Correlation analyses were used to specify the strength of the relationships between the variables. To test the hypotheses, multiple regression analysis was used. Findings: The results have shown that in the local governance organizational learning is related to crowdsourcing, while organizational learning is not related to value creation. Crowdsourcing does not play a mediating role in explaining the relationship between organizational learning and value creation. Research limitations/implications: A research model was developed based on the relevant literature in the field of organizational learning, value creation and crowdsourcing. This study urges researchers to explore the relationship between organizational learning and value creation in other public organizations using crowdsourcing. Originality/value: This is the first study on the intermediate role of crowdsourcing in the relationship between organizational learning and value creation in local governance. The proposed model enriches the existing literature and allows better understanding of how crowdsourcing acts as an intermediary in the organizational learning-value creation relationship.

Towards platform defined business : complementarity at the spotlight

As markets become increasingly more competitive firms systematically move away from hierarchical integrated supply chains toward fragmented networks of strategic partnerships with external partners. Business practice indicate a growing number of businesses relying on the platform organizational structures. For such constructs superior product quality and customer appeal maintain necessary but it is the breadth of the ecosystem of related product and services that has become a prerequisite for success. It implies the focus on third parties, complementors, who develop and deliver diverse content to platforms as well as enhance platform’s generativity. Although complementary relations should be the main reference while considering the network dynamics from different angles, the attention in the extant research gravitates toward inter-platform competition with platform owners as the central object. Thus, with the objective to contribute to the emerging literature on industry platforms, this conceptual article discusses main challenges concerned with orchestrating arm’s length relationships with complementors, by departing from platform-owner-centered approach and focusing on behavior of interdepended contributors.
