Opis:
Earthquake-related damage has been observed in the architectural substance recorded at the archaeological site of Marina el-Alamein on the northwestern coast of Egypt, reflecting seismic events with more widespread impact known from both written and archaeological sources in the immediate vicinity and farther out. Recent investigations in the ancient town, focused on a district in the northwestern part of the site, have uncovered more evidence of potential earthquake-related destruction in a small public bathhouse (H.39) and a building of still unspecified function (H.40) located further to the east. Apart from obvious wall cracking and floor decomposition, as well as evidence of violent fires (attributed at least in one case to the second half of the 2nd century AD), the author has also observed differences in wall construction techniques, possibly chronologically discrete, that could be explained by a desire on the part of the ancient builders to protect buildings against the effects of seismic shockwaves.

Opis:
Przedstawiono wyniki badań numerycznych wpływu parametrów charakteryzujących geometrię ustroju na wartości uogólnionych sił wewnętrznych w budynkach o konstrukcji ścianowej, zginanych na terenie górniczym. Obliczenia przeprowadzono dla 90 budynków o trzech podstawowych typach rzutów poziomych. Obliczenia prowadzono modelując budynki w zależności od potrzeb rusztem belkowym lub przestrzenną powłoką z wykorzystaniem metody elementów skończonych (MES). Dla rusztu zastępcze sztywności na zginanie [EJ] oraz ścinanie [GA] poszczególnych belek rusztu określono według zasad podanych w „Wytycznych projektowania budynków na terenie górniczym”.
The article were presented the results of numerical studies of geometric structure parameters influence on the values of internal forces in the buildings of wall construction, bended in mining regions. The calculations were carried out for 90 buildings of three basic types of floor projections. Calculations were carried out by modeling buildings, depending on the needs of the grate beam or a spatial shell using FEM. For grid substitute bending stiffness [EJ] and shearing [GA] rigidity for the particular beams were determined according to the principles given in “Guiding rules for designing the wall buildings in the mining region”.

Opis:
Artykuł stanowi wstęp do badań nad konstrukcją domów przysłupowych z rejonu miasta Bogatynia, położonego w powiecie zgorzeleckim w województwie dolnośląskim. Dociekania prowadzono na podstawie inwentaryzacji pomiarowych opracowanych pod kierunkiem autorki publikacji, w ramach zajęć terenowych dla studentów II stopnia kierunku architektura na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Poznańskiej. Wykazano, że proces kształtowania się struktury konstrukcyjnej domów przysłupowych trwał przynajmniej do początku XX w. W przypadku Bogatyni można nawet rozpatrzeć wyróżnienie specyficznego pośredniego typu konstrukcyjnego, który należy określić jako długosłupowy i krótkomieczowy.
The article is an introduction to research on the construction of half-timbered houses from the area of the city of Bogatynia, located in the Zgorzelecki poviat in the Dolnośląskie voivodship. The research was carried out on the basis of measurement inventories prepared under the supervision of the author of the publication as part of field classes for second-degree students of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Poznań University of Technology. It has been shown that the process of shaping the structure of half-timbered houses lasted at least until the beginning of the 20th century. In the case of Bogatynia, it is even possible to distinguish between a specific, intermediate construction type, which should be defined as long-column and short-beam.

The article is devoted to the attitude of writers from the GDR and the FRG to the construction and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The reactions in the RFG were varied, but there prevailed protest and indignation with the situation, whereas the GDR writers mostly supported the action of the authorities. Reactions to the fall of the Wall in 1989 were almost completely opposite: there were the writers from the GDR who responded first and protested against the reunification of Germany, receiving some unexpected support from the FRG writers – former critics of the construction of the Wall. This position should be, among others, explained by the popularity of the idea of the „third way“ among the intellectuals from both German countries, as well as by the attachment to the system of those writers who remained in the GDR until 1989.

The 17th-century wooden church in Brody Poznańskie, erected on a cruciform plan in a quasi-post-supported construction system, holds a special place in the Polish and European stock of wooden church architecture. The article analyses the distinctive features of the architecture of the building and confronts them with archival materials relating to it, revealing the circumstances and details of the process of establishing the “factory” for the church, the model adopted for it, and its original architectural appearance. The synthesising conclusions highlight the exceptional importance of this church in the study of old carpentry practices.
