Opis:
Environmental concern has been an important issue for a few decades and the extent of consumer demand for eco-friendly consumption has increased. The article presents research results concerning the willingness to pay (WTP) for selected green products, defined by the auction method. Moreover, the paper presents the interrelations between the perceived benefits, individual value system and the WTP. Purpose – The aim of research is evaluation of willingness to pay (WTP) for green products, assessment of the interrelations between willingness and the individual values, perceived benefits. Design/methodology – The experiment in a form of the auction was carried out in order to assess the current WTP. Three non-eco-friendly products and their ecological equivalents were chosen. The auction was carried out among 20 persons. For evaluation of perceived benefits and individual system of values a questionnaire form was used. Findings – Not eco-friendly products were evaluated slightly higher than their real (market) value. Green products were evaluated below their market value. Considering a system of values, the self-enhancement values are mostly interrelated with the perceived environmental benefits and product functionality. In the group of people with dominating self-transcendence values a connection exists between the purchase of green products and perceived individual benefits. Research implications – Results can constitute a starting point for the research on the influence of a value system on purchase decisions of green products. Practical implications – Results can be used for establishing process of green products, and making plans for their marketing campaigns. Social implications – Results increase the knowledge about the perception and the reception of green products by clients with different systems of values. Originality/value – The article complements former research through combining the factors such as perceived benefits from using green products, user’s individual value system, and environmental effects of product production with the WTP. Paper type – research

Adoption of a child is considered to be a satisfactory form of compensation for the need for parenthood. The adoption process is multi-stage, and its positive ending often involves the ability to seek support and use its own resources to help with its difficulties. Adoption family is perceived as one whose inherent experience is loss. It seems therefore that the search for ways that allow each stage of the adoption process to maintain the optimal level of mental balance of the spouses will be one of the foundations for creating a family with an adopted child. This article was presenteda sample of research on adoptive families in their development cycle at different stages of the adoption process. The results provide a comparison of the respondents in terms of selected aspects that make up the willingness to cooperate with institutions that carry out the adoption process. The study involved 89 people - future adoptive parents. The results show that there are significant differences between the examined individuals in terms of selected personality variables, which may be the level of willingness to cooperate with the institutions conducting the adoption procedure.

Opis:
The article aims to examine older learners’ points of view concerning their in-class will- ingness to communicate (WTC) in English and to identify their expectations regarding an English teacher. The instrument was a questionnaire that comprised – among others – of questions referring to variables that could exert an impact on third-agers’ WTC in English in class. The factors which were used as options in the closed and open-ended questions in the study had been identified by the third agers as the ones that positively or negatively shaped their in-class WTC in an earlier piece of qualitative research (Borkowska 2021a). The data analysis revealed that the informants (63 older participants) reported an eagerness to communicate in English, and they perceived speaking with the teacher as the most motivating type of interaction. The most crucial components of language instruction that boosted older adults’ WTC was gentle error correction, a friendly atmosphere, and teacher support that seemed to have a positive effect on their lower self-esteem. Similarly, an empathetic and patient instructor could be of great help in diminishing seniors’ self-depreciating views. In contrast, negative teacher attributes (e.g., anxiety, criticism) could lead to inhibiting the older participants’ WTC and active involvement during English classes.
Analiza danych pokazała, iż respondenci (63 starszych dorosłych) byli chętni do komunikacji w języku angielskim, a najbardziej motywującą formą interakcji była rozmowa z nauczycielem. Natomiast, negatywne cechy instruktora (tj. niepokój, krytyka) prowadziły do zmniejszenia angażowania starszych dorosłych w komunikację podczas zajęć.

Opis:
Due to a lack of adequate information on ginger’s nutritional and medical value to an individual’s health, most rural households do not often purchase ginger. Therefore, this study aims to determine the household’s awareness and willingness to pay for ginger. A simple random sampling procedure was used to select 53 respondents, and primary data were collected through an online questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and a binary logistic regression model were used for data analyses. Descriptive statistics revealed that the average age of the respondents was 39 years. Also, most respondents (77.4%) indicated they were aware of the health benefits of ginger, and approximately 45.3% indicated that they purchase ginger on a monthly basis. Lastly, most respondents (73.6%) were willing to pay for ginger. Regression estimates showed that gender, cost of ginger and frequency of ginger purchasing influenced rural households’ willingness to pay for ginger. Since gender was found to be a significant variable, the study, therefore, recommends that women should be encouraged to purchase functional foods when buying groceries for their households. This may enhance healthy habits and ultimately reduce households’ medical expenditure because functional foods can have preventive and corrective impacts for some illnesses.

Opis:
Prosumers’ knowledge is increasingly becoming an integral and important element in business strategy. A major challenge for enterprises involves motivating prosumers to share their knowledge. This problemis addressed by incentives linked to the knowledge sharing activities of prosumers. The purpose of thispaper is to investigate which incentives could encourage prosumers to knowledge sharing with enterprises. Based on a survey producing data from 783 Polish prosumers, this study demonstrates whichincentives encourage them to share knowledge. The results indicate that prosumers are willing to share knowledge, but only under the condition of obtaining certain benefits, rewards or fulfilling other personal goals in return. The proposed framework of incentives encouraging prosumers to share knowledge includes tangible and intangible incentives. The named intangible incentives are categorized intoactivity, social, tool-and promotion-related incentives. Tangible and activity incentives mainly encourage prosumers to knowledge sharing. Prosumers award slightly fewer points to social incentives. Meanwhile,tool-and promotion-related incentives have the lowest impact on prosumers’ knowledge sharing. Moreover, there are significant relationships between prosumers’ gender and all types of incentives; between generations and tangible incentives; as well as between educational background and tangible, activity, social, and tool-related incentives.

Opis:
Introduction: COVID-19 requires an all-inclusive task sharing/shifting approach by clinical professions in order to stem the tide of the pandemic. Physiotherapists have, therefore, potential for front line duties to COVID-19 patients as part of their traditional role in acute care for patients with respiratory complications. This study assessed the knowledge, attitude, and willingness of physiotherapists to care for patients with COVID-19 at the onset of the pandemic. Method: An electronic (WhatsApp) survey of 210 licenced physiotherapists was conducted from March 2020 to July 2020 using an adapted questionnaire from a previous validated tool. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The level of statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: The physiotherapists displayed a high level of awareness (99.0%) about COVID-19, and the social media (96.2%), especially WhatsApp (74.8%), was the main source of information on COVID-19. 28.6% of the respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge of COVID-19. The knowledge about COVID-19 was significantly influenced by educational qualifications (p = 0.00). Also, 77.1%, 74.8% and 87.1% of the respondents werewilling to provide care for patients with COVID-19, be part of front-line care team, and care for COVID-19 survivors, respectively. Conclusion: Nigerian physiotherapists displayed an appreciable level of knowledge of COVID-19 at the onset of the pandemic. The surveyed physiotherapists were also willing to provide care for COVID-19 patients and survivors, as well as to be part of the COVID-19 front-line care team for.

Conditions of willingness to take on a therapy in the opinions of women - victims of domestic violence
Uwarunkowania gotowości do podjęcia terapii w opiniach kobiet - ofiar przemocy domowej
Autorzy:
Watras, Olga
Opis:
For centuries women are vulnerable to experience violence in the family in which they operate. Considered patriarchy in society diminishes the status of woman, reducing it to a subordinate role, enslaved and abused wife, hence it is important to delve into this subject matter, starting with the reader familiar with the theoretical aspect: definitions of violence, its types and forms, theories explaining its origin, the consequences of its experience and forms of assistance and support offered to victims. The most important issue concerns conditions of willingness of women to take on a therapy. In this study, it was assumed that this willingness is determined by such factors as: the predominant state of emotional, subjective perception of change, social support, priorities in life and a sense of self-efficacy, which in turn were first examined on the basis of women's opinions by using diagnostic survey method and a questionnaire, to be able to finally assess the level of willingness of that which exhibit the respondents. This may find practical use in determining the direction of therapeutic effects. Based on this study conclusion was drawn that all the tested women demonstrate willingness to take the therapy, but there are differences in the level, which should be paid special attention in the therapeutic work with clients, using methods and techniques pitched at the individual cases.

Opis:
Speaking, the language skill whose mastering appears to be the ultimate aim of every attempt at learning a foreign language, constitutes a formidable challenge. Apart from involving the online interaction of complex processes of conceptualization, formulation, articulation and monitoring (Levelt, 1989), it appears prone to numerous psychological and social influences that, being difficult to control, may consistently hinder development. One of such factors, closely related to the concept of anxiety, is L2 willingness to communicate (WTC), called “the most immediate determinant of L2 use” (Clement, Baker, & MacIntyre, 2003, p. 191). Perceived as either a personality trait or/and a context-related feature, WTC seems capable of accounting for a person’s first and second language communication. Interestingly it can be related to the learner’s disposition towards the target language culture, general interest in international affairs, willingness to travel and sustain contacts with speakers of other languages, which, defined as international posture (Yashima, 2002), serves as a strong predictor of success in language learning. The present paper reports the results of a survey conducted among 111 students of English, in the majority prospect teachers of English. The aim was to establish the degree of correlation between their international posture and WTC. The results do not corroborate the outcomes of other studies performed in the field (cf. Yashima, 2002, 2009), which might point to the unique characteristics of the Polish educational context.

Opis:
The article aims to scrutinize third agers’ in-class willingness to communicate (WTC) in English as well as to determine the relationship among WTC, intrinsic motivation, classroom environment, and teacher immediacy. The instrument adapted to this study was a questionnaire comprising biodata items, the in-class WTC tool (Peng & Woodrow, 2010), intrinsic motivation (Noels, Clément, & Pelletier, 2001), classroom environment (Fraser, Fisher, & McRobbie, 1996), and the teacher immediacy scale (Zhang & Oetzel, 2006). The data revealed that senior learners’ WTC was higher in meaning-focused than in form-focused activities. This finding indicates that the participants paid due attention to communicative interactions in English. Also, they were more eager to be actively involved in dyadic exercises as it might have given them a sense of security and confidence. It is noteworthy that intrinsic motivation turned out to be the strongest predictor of in-class WTC. The analysis showed that communication in English abroad and in-class was of paramount relevance for the informants. The older adults also underscored the fundamental role of the language instructor. In this respect, the students attached great importance to a non-threatening atmosphere, and the teacher’s personality traits, namely patience, professionalism, and empathy.
