- Practical tasks of contrastive analysis serve language-teaching purposes, i.e., they are important in foreign language teaching. A part of this teaching process is the didactics of Slovak syntax. One possible method is the use of the Polish model of describing the syntactic phenomena and use them to confront Slovak and Polish connotations and accommodations; and for the level of semantic syntax we can use the model of describing the predicate-argument structures that constitute the sentences in both languages. For comparison it is useful, or even crucial, to have an étalon language, tertium comparationis, which, according to scholars, has not yet been constructed. The analysis of linguistic interference, which is particularly strong within cognate languages, is also important.
